This is intentional. Since you still get the eggs at generally the same time you would in a normal run, you can't necessarily do what you need to hatch them. Like if the first egg you got had a Yola in it, you wouldn't have the yubtorches you need to hatch it.

That's why the follow the original pet's requirements.

It's genuinely a 1 for 1 swap of the pet. It's less about it making sense and more that we kept the requirements for the original pet that you would have/should have gotten at that stage.

They all do that. If you started over again, you could theoretically get a bot that comes out of the first egg (sluggabun egg) and it would have the Sluggabun hatching and embiggening requirements to ensure that you can successfully embiggen it to max stage since you can't complete the bot's requirements in Maarla's Mantle.
