How Many Dudes? Feedbag

Hello, I had a power outage like 40 minutes ago and I lost all my progress, all t1, t2 and t3 collectibles. I'm basically 66 hours into the game and 63/69 Steam achievments, I tried working with Steam Cloud to recover my game data but it didn't help, is there any way of recovering my collectibles? I love the game but I don't want to grind through everything all over again. If needed I can send proof of my Steam account playtime or achievments to verify that I'm not just a random who wants to have his game completed. Thanks in advance

Heyo, this is an issue with windows that we've been working on finding a way to prevent from happening but there's a few things you can try.

First, I would backup everything you've got in %LOCALAPPDATA%/HowManyDudes/ just in case something goes even more wrong while attempting to solve this.

If you go to that folder, there should be one named backup that might have your save data stored still.

https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage is where your steam cloud saves are stored, you might be able to pull a copy from there if it hasn't been overwritten.

I highly recommend disabling Steam Cloud for this game since when a file gets corrupted, it just uploads that broken file to the steam cloud. If you can log in to Rumpus (same account as you logged in to make this report) we host backups on our server as well that can be pulled down to override null files.

I tried backup folder, it got overwritten as soon as I opened the game and closed it for the first time after the power outage. I could see that looking at the time next to the files.

Literally the same story with remotestorage for steam cloud saves. My global.json and save_data.json were overwritten after the first launch of the game after power outage

These first two solutions I tried and failed at fixing the issue, regarding Rumpus, I didn't have my data neither account over there prior to losing everything after power outage, so I believe there won't be my backup save anywhere, because I created my account after the fact? Mainly to send this support ticket. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is no way to get back my progress anymore? Since neither steamcloud or backup game folder worked, my Rumpus account and cloud was created after I already lost my data there is nothing else other than just replaying the game from scratch?

Thanks for your help again and sorry if my message isn't that clear to read, english isn't my 1st language, cheers :)

There's not a way to recover it, no, but if you give me some time on Monday, I may be able to help you craft one and get you back where you need to be.

I've been needing to experiment with that anyways.

Sure, sounds great, I played a few games today hoping to speedrun to where I was before, hope it won't make it any more complicated. Anyways, tomorrow I won't be really playing so feel free to experiment and lmk how it went.

Nah, it'll be something we have to go back and forth on. Are you in our community discord?
