Does Crashlands have online multiplayer?

It does not! It does support same-screen co-op using controllers though, so grab a friend and grab a couch!

We have no plans to add online multiplayer to Crashlands, although we are considering experimenting with online multiplayer for future games.

How is the mobile version of Crashlands different from the Switch version or the PC version?

Each version of Crashlands is nearly identical. There are some minor differences in display and control options, and perhaps regional differences in availability of online content, but otherwise it's the same game.

Is Crashlands Co-Op available on all platforms?

Yep! Every platform we sell Crashlands on, anyway. As long as you've got a controller for your device, you can play Crashlands co-op.

How do I turn on Crashlands Co-Op?

Juicebox can only be played with a controller, but Flux can use a controller, touch (on mobile), or keyboard (on PC), and we set things up so that you can even switch control schemes for Flux on the fly. But that complicates adding that second player. Here's how to get going:

  • If the Flux player is already using a controller, the Juicebox player can simply hit START on a second controller to join (or leave).
  • If you only have one controller, you'll have to go to the title screen > Settings > Controls > Assign Controller to Player 2. After that, Juicebox can hit START to enter/exit at any time.

I bought Crashlands on one platform. Do I get it for free on another platform?

You will have to re-purchase the game on different platforms if you want to play it there. Unfortunately, Google, Nintendo, Apple, and Steam haven't worked out any deals with each other to make cross-platform purchases a thing. We know that's a bummer, but that's the world we live in! You can sync your progress across stores, however, by logging in with your BscotchID (some restrictions apply).

Why isn't Crashlands available on . . .?

Depending on the platform, at least one of the following is why Crashlands isn't on it:

  • The platform doesn't want it.
  • Development costs for the port are super high and we aren't confident we can recoup our costs on that platform.
  • The platform rules require that we make fundamental changes to the game that are either costly or ones we don't believe in.
  • The platform has business or other practices that go against our own.

When does the Crashlands Creator come out?

Never say never, but... okay fine, never. We underestimated how costly it would be to develop, maintain, and moderate a public version of this tool. We'd much rather spend our time making games than moderating the stuff that other people make! But if you're interesting in building things, we recommend checking out our platformer builder game, Levelhead!

I'm stuck on a Crashlands quest!

Crashlands doesn’t always tell you exactly what to do, and that’s how we designed it! It’s a game about exploration and story; you’ll inevitably find the answer for yourself if you keep following quests, reading those quests carefully, and exploring the world. That does mean that sometimes you’ll get stuck.

If you can’t find an answer after giving it a fair shot, look for help from the community: Crashlands subreddit, our forums, and Discord.

Note that the developers and moderators will not answer these sorts of questions, they’re too busy fixing and managing things!

I cannot log in to BscotchID in Crashlands

The cause of this issue is still unknown to us, but there is a workaround:

  1. Download and install [Fiddler](https://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler)
  1. In the options menu, enable decrypt https traffic as shown below: image
  2. Reboot the game and try login again. This workaround is not perfect and Fiddler may interfere with your other applications, but it has worked for other players. If you are a wizard and found out clues about this issue, please open a support ticket

Google Play says my device is incompatible.

A lot of people are telling us that Google Play claims their device is incompatible with Crashlands, even when it isn’t. Apparently this happens sporadically, so that even people who have already bought the game sometimes get this message. We have no control over this, and have no idea why it’s happening. Try waiting a while and rebooting your device if you see that message. If you still can’t get it to work, contact Google to let them know.

Flux keeps moving in one direction and I cannot stop the movement.

This is likely caused by a bluetooth device interfering with the game's input system. Please disable bluetooth on your device and reboot the game to see if the movement stops. If the problem persists, please contact us through the Feedbag.

I'm having a problem with my Cloud Save using BscotchID.

Current versions of Crashlands should pop up alerts when save syncs succeed or fail, so you should always know if the system is working. Cloud Saves are only available for players who have logged in with BscotchID, verified ownership (automatic on Steam, the App Store, and the latest Google Play versions; otherwise requires manually supplying order numbers or GoG keys), and moved an active save into a Cloud Save slot. To turn a local save into a Cloud Save, go to the Saves menu from the title screen, select the save, and send it to the cloud!

Note that cloud saves are always available locally, even when you aren’t online. They aren’t played from the cloud, they are simply backed up there.

The most commonly seen cloudsave problem isn’t a problem at all: upon freshly logging into a new Crashlands installation, the game might not retrieve your saves the first time it tries. Poke the “Sync Saves” button to force that to happen, or try restarting the game.

The other common problem, sadly, is people thinking they have uploaded their saves when they actually haven’t. This can result in a lot of heartache. Your saves are only uploaded if you put them into your Cloud Saves slots, and we have no way to get them for you if you haven’t done that. Similarly, if you move your cloudsave back to local, or delete your cloud save, it is permanently removed from our servers and we can’t recover them for you.

Note: We will delete cloudsaves from pirated copies of Crashlands. This won’t affect your local copy.

My game has no sound!

In some cases, people's antivirus software is blocking the game's access to its sound files. Either whitelist file access to the game folder(\steamapps\common\Crashlands) or disable your antivirus software to solve this problem.

My game is jittery, running slow, or has unstable FPS.

If your monitor's refresh rate is higher than 60 FPS, it cause unstable FPS issue for the game. Go to the Settings > Stablize FPS > On, which should help with this issue.

If you are on a device with multiple GPUs (such as laptops), make sure that the your device selected the right GPU to launch the game. Here's an article that may assist you.

We have several in-game buttons that should open your browser (like Google login and the community links). If you click on them and nothing happens, or something weird happens, it's probably because your default HTML viewer is set to something besides your browser. For Windows 10, hit the Windows key, type "default apps" and hit enter, then click on "choose default apps by file type", then make sure that .html is set to use your browser!

I'm on Windows 7, and I can't log in to BscotchID!

Crashlands only supports the latest version of Windows 7 because of network security issues with prior versions. Be sure your Windows 7 version is on the latest patch.

I’m on Windows 7 and my game keeps crashing!

Check that your Windows 7 version is on the latest patch and that you have DirectX 11 installed.

I use Riva Tuner Statistic Server and the game won’t launch.

Please close Riva Tuner Statistic Server and the game should be able to launch.

When creating a report, be sure to include what version of the game you are playing on, as well as what platform. The more information you give us, the faster we can solve the problem! Note that if you report the issue anywhere else, we will not see it.
