Rumpus is the glue that binds together the Butterscotch Universe! It's our very own player account system for: syncing and backing up your game progress, powering all of the cool level-sharing features in Levelhead, providing player support, and even building our games! Rumpus is the great centralizer: you can link your Rumpus account to all of your platform accounts (Steam, Google, etc) so that no matter how you log in or what platform you're playing our games on, you always end up logged into the same account.

Why don't we just use the accounts and save-syncing services provided by the platforms? Because those are designed to lock you to those platforms! Rumpus gives you data portability no matter where you bought your games. Your data is exactly that: yours. Plus, having our own system lets us solve save-syncing and other tricky problems exactly once, rather than having to spend time solving them again and again for every platform. We turn that saved time into MORE GAMES for you to play.

All that said, some platforms really don't want us to do this (since they think your data is their data) so they add nonsensical requirements or even sometimes don't let us use our own service at all. That can limit the utility of Rumpus, but we'll keep doing our best to support your right to own your own data!
